For the History Enthusiast: Hosted by
Lawrence Herson
Professor LAWRENCE HERSON and his wife, Libby,
are enthusiastic travellers, having made more
than one hundred-fifty trips abroad, with
periods of research and residence in at least 50
countries. He is currently writing a book on
their travels. Professor Herson has also served
as election analyst for CBS and PBS, and in
1995, was honoured by an invitation from Mikhail
Gorbachev to deliver a series of lectures in
Russia on the American democratic experience.
Professor Herson’s diverse lecture topics
include: Confucianism, 19th-century French
Bronzes, Islam, Buddhism, Sherlock Holmes,
American Politics, Pacific Voyages, New World
Discoveries, Russia Old and New, Viet Nam, Evita
& Juan Peron, and The Caribbean as Africa in
Exile.
For the Gourmet: Hosted by Daniel Soto
Join DANIEL SOTO from Santiago, Chile’s Santa
Alicia Winery on this Wine Series Voyage. Santa
Alicia, located in the famous Maipo Valley, is
an innovative winery utilising leading edge
techniques. Methods such as microclimate
research, colonial selection, extensive
laboratory analysis, and controlled
fermentations result in wines of exceptional
purity and character. However, it is the
winery's use and respect of traditional methods
that elevate its wines beyond the ordinary.
Handpicking early in the morning, fermentation
in oak and stainless steel, and further aging in
French and American oak barrels yields wines of
intense character and suppleness |
